Job Description

The Position

We are currently looking for high calibre experienced Health, Safety, Security & Envinromental Co-ordinators for our Africa operations.

Primary responsibilites of the role (but not limited to)

Reporting to the relevant line manager the HSS & E Co-ordinator is responsible for advising on the development, implementation and continuing improvement of systems of work required by legislation, company standards & as dictated by country work scopes.
Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the Group Management System Procedures & Worldwide Standards.
Advise on and facilitate the development and implementation of Group Worldwide Standards and Procedures.
Audit and monitor adherence to Group Worldwide Standards.
Liaise with clients on HS&E matters to ensure that Standards & Procedures address both operational risks and client requirements.
Develop systems for the management and promotion of the various types of risk assessments which may be required for operations, and to undertake such risk assessments as required.
Develop and maintain systems for the recording and follow-up of lessons learned from incidents, risk assessments or similar.
Be fully conversant with statutory legislation, codes of practice and guidance affecting our world-wide operations.
Review subcontractor’s health, safety and environmental plans and performance to ensure Group requirements are met.
Review safety management system interfaces with clients and subcontractors and ensure they are adequately documented and meet the requirements of client safety cases.
Facilitate and support appropriate personnel in the close-out of safety actions.
Coach, mentor and support personnel (at all levels) in relation to required Worldwide Standards
Regularly visit the operational rig sites to assist and advise rig site teams
Coordinate and manage regular audits of rig sites to ensure compliance with Worldwide Standards
Assist in the development, delivery and maintenance of Emergency, Contingency and Security response plans/ systems
Carry out safety training for which qualified, including group inductions, leading by example.

Experience / Key Attributes

Experience with an HSSET role within the Oil & Gas Sector / or equivalent
Previous responsibility for managing HSSET teams / groups
NEBOSH Certificate / OHSP NVQ level 3
Ability to work to high standard without excessive supervision
Ability to work with various levels of personnel to identify and achieve common goals
Ability to produce work to the required standards / timescales
Ability to train, coach and mentor personnel
Confidence – having the ability to STOP the job as and when required.
In depth knowledge of drilling operations.
