NATIONAL PROGRAMME MANAGER – Abuja

Role Purpose
The National Programme Manager will strategically lead and manage the Child Development Grant Programme in Northern Nigeria and s/he will be accountable for the achievement of programme deliverables and delivery of the joint log-frame within the consortium of Save the Children and Action against Hunger.
In order to be successful within this position, you will ideally have:

Bachelors degree in a related field
Prior experience of designing and/or delivering large scale (in excess of £10m) programmes
Proven ability to manage large consortiums with a minimum of 4 years experience managing multi-regional or multi-country programmes
Demonstrable track record of meeting or exceeding programme targets, while maintaining technical quality.
Ability to represent the programme at a strategic level and engage and influence key stakeholders Demonstrated experience of working with national and/or regional level government structures.
Self-motivated and results orientated.
Highly numerically articulate with a track record of data manipulation and use of spreadsheets and reporting systems.
Experience in management of finance and budget monitoring and risk management.
Proven ability to motivate and develop others
Highly diplomatic and emotionally intelligent with strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong communication, and interpersonal skills in English, with substantial experience in managing multicultural teams Experience of building, leading and developing a team of senior staff with different backgrounds and expertise
Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy-in
Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles
Post-graduate qualification in Public Health, or Nutrition or Food Security related relevant discipline
Substantial experience of working and living in Africa, ideally with professional experience in Nigeria
Demonstrable understanding of Value for Money and DFID results agenda.
Ability to coach and mentor multi-sectoral partners
Ability to speak Hausa

INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL PROTECTION ADVISER

Role Purpose
Strategically lead and manage all technical aspects of the Child Development Grant Programme, accountable for ensuring that the programme is delivered to a high quality, evidence in the programme approach is built and a consistent approach to quality is taken across the consortium.
In order to be successful within this position, you will ideally have:

Post-graduate qualification in social science, international development, economics or related relevant discipline
Prior experience of designing and delivering cash transfer programmes at scale
Proven ability to work within or manage large consortiums with a minimum of 4 years experience managing multi-agency programmes
Demonstrable track record of meeting or exceeding programme targets, while maintaining technical quality.
Ability to represent the cash transfer programme at a policy and strategic level as well as to engage with and influence key stakeholders
Demonstrated experience of working with national and/or regional level government structures.
Substantial experience of working and living in Africa, ideally with professional experience in Nigeria
Proven ability to motivate and develop others
Experience of building, leading and developing a team of senior staff with different backgrounds and expertise

CHILD SAFEGUARDING ADVISOR-Abuja

Role Purpose

The Child Safeguarding (CS) role will take lead in institutionalizing child safeguarding and code of conduct into the Nigeria countrywide programme, ensure that the country programme has a clear complaints, reporting and investigation mechanisms, and monitor compliance and accountability. The role has overall responsibility for ensuring that partners, suppliers and others associated with SCI are aware of and are compliant with the child safeguarding policy.
In order to be successful within this position, you will ideally have:

Degree level qualification in social work or equivalent health, education or other relevant professional qualification and working experience
Minimum 5 years direct experience of child protection practice and the Convention on the Rights of the Child
Up to date working knowledge of child care law, child protection policies and practice and current issues in relation to safeguarding children within Nigeria and the West African context
A general appreciation of the issues concerning the NGO sector, both development and humanitarian issues
Fluency in written and spoken English Preparing written reports or materials to a publishable standard in the English language
Planning, delivering and evaluating training, capacity building, coaching and mentoring skills
Organizing and managing a complex and demanding workload and working on own initiative
Influencing practice and policy, including communicating effectively and persuasively at all levels
Facilitating learning, development and change for individuals and/or groups/organizations
Coordination skills, especially in relation to cross-departmental working and external networks
Good understanding and knowledge of gender equity and diversity
Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches
General appreciation of the issues concerning the NGO sector, both development and humanitarian issues
Good analytical skills.

COMPLIANCE AND AWARDS COORDINATOR –Abuja

Role Purpose

To ensure the maintenance and administration of a robust and an effective grants management system that is compliant to Save the Children grants systems and guidelines and meet donor requirements.
In order to be successful within this position, you will ideally have:

A Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce or Finance with a recognised professional certificate in accounting – Part II ACA, ACMA, ACCA
Substantial management experience of which at least 3 for the non-profit sector
Experience of managing institutional donor contracts such as DFID, EC, ECHO, USAID
Proven experience in strategic financial management and producing appropriate management information to support strategy development and decision-making by management
Proven training experience to all levels of staff, both informal (on the job coaching) and formal (structured training courses).
Proven analytical skills and ability to translate analysis into appropriate, feasible and practical implementation plans and goals.
An understanding of development work in order to communicate effectively with donors and programme staff on funding sources and programme issues
Experience of developing guidelines and formats to support staff in donor applications and reporting with particular reference to DFID grants
Knowledge of major donor funding sources and grant application processes
Ability to recognise and interpret funding trends and make recommendations on implications for funding
Experience of managing or supporting programmes in each stage of the project cycle, including development of funding proposals, budgeting, technical and financial monitoring in the context of grants/restricted funding sources.
Thorough understanding of interdepartmental relationships, dynamics and functioning in an overseas programme setting
Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children Ability to translate complex, technical and financial issues into a language understandable by non-finance staff
Willingness to travel to field offices and work in difficult environment from time to time
Ability to work within a multicultural and multi-religious settings
Experience of Save the Children UK financial accounting packages, policies, systems and procedures.
International experience preferably gained within an INGO in a relief/emergency setting
Experience or knowledge of working in the region or country programmes
Proven experience in grants auditing especially of DFID grant audits

MONITORING & EVALUATION AND VALUE FOR MONEY COORDINATOR

Role Purpose

To assume a lead technical role in developing, implementing, and maintaining effective and appropriate Monitoring and Evaluation systems for all project activities. This will include a particular focus on monitoring and evaluating the project’s Value for Money (economy, efficiency, and effectiveness). The post will involve coordination with project management and state teams, and in line with DFID reporting requirements, and with SC guidelines and best practices.
In order to be successful within this position, you will ideally have:

Advanced training in quantitative methodologies, including database management.
5 years of direct experience of monitoring and evaluation related to one or more of these fields; health, HIV, nutrition and/ or economics.
Strong analytical skills and an understanding of a range of methods for monitoring, evaluation and assessment to promote evidence-based learning.
Demonstrated ability to design, commission, and manage assessment methodologies and evaluation.
Experience of cost benefit analysis, economic appraisal or other value for money methodologies.
Computer literate.
Ability to build support from staff across teams and across members, and to build the capacity of others.
Proven ability to coordinate effective resource allocation to ensure quality programmes.
Sound strategic thinking and planning skills, including ability to think creatively and innovate and to set priorities, manageable workplans and evaluate progress.
Strong communications skills (both written and verbal).
The ability to analyse complex data and summarise it for a range of different audiences.
Experience of working within budget constraints.
Commitment to SC’s mission, values and approach (includes child protection, equal opportunities and health and safety).
