The Position

We are currently looking for a high calibre experienced Senior Contracts Engineer to join our  team in Aberdeen.

The GSM Senior Contracts Engineer is responsible for supporting the implementation of the standards, processes and systems that enable the supply of materials, equipment and services in the optimum balance of time, quality and price.

The primary responsibilities of the role are to:

• Deliver a uniform and structured approach to supply chain contract management
• Maintain supply chain contracting principles aligned to business requirements
• Manage supply chain contract risks incorporating appropriate mitigation action
• Make a significant contribution to the Purchasing & Contracts annual business plan, targeting improvements in service to operations and contract risk management.
• Manage major tendering exercises including compiling contract strategies, prequalification documentation, ITTs, technical and commercial evaluations, clarifications, recommendations etc.
• Promotion of new and existing Contracts to global operations
• Present strategies to GSM Management Team for Tender Board approval
• Establish, maintain and promote robust contract management plans incorporating rate reviews, contract amendments etc.
• Maintain a suite of contract templates applicable to different contracting scenarios.
• Draft amendments to terms and conditions in conjunction with Legal.
• Lead contractual negotiations.
• Play a key role in contracting strategies for Strategic Sourcing Initiatives (SSI), adapting those strategies to suit regional market and supplier conditions.
• Demonstrate knowledge of contract law and promote effective communication and good working relationships with the Commercial and Legal Functions.
• Demonstration of ethical integrity.

Key personal attributes required:

• Proven experience in a Supply Chain Management (SCM) role with an Oilfield Operator, Drilling Contractor, Service Company or large process industry (petrochemical, pharmaceutical, utilities, CPG or food).
• Experience in executing strategies and the delivery of the accompanying plans.
• Competent with SCM methodologies and have worked for a substantial SCM organization.
• Strong focus on SCM and Project experience with the ability to interface with other functions and regional organisations at various levels in achieving functional objectives.
• Ideally the candidate will be Chartered with the Institute of Purchasing and Supply, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or similar.
• Thorough knowledge of SCM policy, practice, procedures and principles
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience – preferably from an SCM / Commercial background OR
• Project management background with a general knowledge of SCM operations OR
• Equivalent experience of SCM operations.
