Risk is the greatest step to growth, progress and change. And the biggest risk is not taking any risk at all.
In a world that is constantly vulnerable to change, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking any risks at all.
The reason behind taking risks is to innovate faster. If by chance you fail, then you must do so in a way that would lead to new understanding. Your manager’s job should not be to avoid risk, but to make risk taking a safe trip.
Take the risk, be aggressive, push hard, and set your sights farther out than you think you can get. Drive your team towards it every day.
Rather than asking ‘What are the odds that I will succeed?’ A different way to look at risk is to ask, ‘What’s the worst thing that would happen if I failed? After all, the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.
