URL is the short form for Uniform Resource Locator, a website URL is the location of a specific website, page, or file on the Internet. Every URL is made up of multiple parts, and the way yours are built will have a variety of effects on your site’s security and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
Also known as the scheme, is the first part of a URL. It represents the sets of rules that decide how files are displayed, formatted, or transferred across the web. For example, when an address is entered in the browser, the http part , which stands for hypertext transfer protocol, tells it that the page is to be displayed in hypertext format (HTML).
The most common subdomain is ‘www’ which a general symbol for any resource on the web. However, it is common to specify the type of resource that the browser should deliver.
The domain name:
This is the actual name of the website. The ‘jetheights’ in ‘jetheights.com’ or ‘google’ in ‘google.com’. Domain names are unique as they literally determine the address of a website.
Used to show which directory on server stores the resources (files, videos, audio, etc.) that are being requested.
Think of this as the folder structure of the website, so a browser knows which subfolder to find the webpage in.
This is the last part of the URL and is the specific page you are requesting. It’s generally the actual filename of the page as it is stored on the domain computer.
That makes the 5 basic part of a website URL.
